I am starting to wonder if NBA stands for nationaly BABY association the way the players are crying about the dress code.. Do not most jobs have a dress code of sorts?? I have to buy my own uniforms.. why shouldnt someone..ie.. Marcus "I want a stipend" Camby have to buy his own clothes?
It's not a racial issue either.. dress code covers everyone.

I agree. They get paid TOO MUCH to play a game, and they complain about something as non-trivial as this? PALEASE. Give me a break. I feel about them complaining about this the same as ANY sports teams going on strike for more pay.
If you make more than $1000 PER GAME, then you can't complain.

>:(When I first heard about this story, it didn't pass the smell test the way it was presented in the news media. It was replete with racial overtones. The "NBA Dress Code"was directed at black players. You don't have to say "Black" to know who this policy was targeting. It didn't explain why there was a sudden need for a "dress code", especially after the years of antics of Dennis Rodman. When they started talking about the wearing of medallions,jewelery. This was nothing more than racial profiling. Suppose a player wanted to wear a "Crucifix" or a "Star of David"? Who is David Stern to pontificate to grown men, as to what is appropriate attire. Is he in any position to interpret religious symbolism? Why open this "Pandora's Box"? Where does it end? The only reason this became a problem, is when white teenagers started emulating the styles, and trends, of black stars in the NBA. The "Hip Hop" culture is everwhere, and you can't put the genie back in the bottle. This is not about a "dress code", It's about a mindset, of the rich and powerful people that control this nation. It is the same one shared by Bill Bennett, David Stern, Pat Robertson, The Supreme Court, The Deptpartment of Justice, The Hamilton County Court System, The FOP, and all the the way down to"Westwood Concerned". This is an example of the assault on civil liberties taking place in this country. I wonder what the dress code will be in the "WNBA" no dresses.

It would be nice if that was the case. I can't stand that. However, that's not the case with the NBA. They're basically saying that everyone needs to dress up if they're not playing. I've seen it at the high schools. I went to an NCH game to see Mayo, Walker, and the rest of the team play, and I seen several players that were either injured or not allowed to play, and they were all dressed up. This was way before the NBA had brought it up. So I don't see a problem. Unless of course this is directed just at the black players. Even though by ratio there are more black players in the NBA than white, but still. I think it's a good idea no matter what. They just need to watch their wording.

I noticed after watching nfl prime time this weekend, and have noticed this in the past, if you watch post game nfl interviews, the majority of players seem to be in suits and such. I wonder is there a dress code in the nfl?? I havent heard of such. I know there are rules about how they dress on the field and such.. ie.. certain socks. tuck jersey in.. etc..

I did a search to see if I could find something on it, and there's literally nothing. The only thing I found is this comment on a popular article that comes up if you search for "nfl dress code".
"If the dress code laid down by NBA commissioner David Stern succeeds in spiffing up his league's image, it won't be long before NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue follows suit."
I guess that means there is no dress code.

Matt;
The important thing here is: what is the player's contracts? Have they agreed to avoiding actions that might adversely effect the league? If so, it is a simple matter; they agreed to this and must adhere to the contract. I wonder if the players attorneys told them about such a provision.
