cincyjim?I'm lost? What is your point? I don't understand the point you are making. Please explain....
... ... ...
Racism and nepotism and cronyism =WRONG! So what is your point?!
Be sure you define and understand Affirmative Action. ... ... ... That's all. I been there....done that.
Sure some folks have done a bad job (as I stated above). But you don't throw out the baby and the bath water because the water is dirty.
To accurately understand the "Affirmative Action Act" one must read the Congressional debates resulting in the '64 Civil Rights Act and understand the conditions that brought Affirmative Action about. Your claim "been there....done that" is not supported by your post.
"Executive Order 10925 was signed by JFK in 1961, requiring government contractors to " take affirmative action [AA] to ensure that applicants are employed, and that employees are treated during employment, without regard to their race, creed, color, or national origin", which later became the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in the Civil Rights Act of 1964."
National, in law and/or de facto, "Jim Crow" laws existed in this country up until the real "Jim Crow" laws were struck down which left the true American problem; de facto "Jim Crow" thinking, which is addressed (not solved) by the Civil Rights Act and it's Affirmative Action (AA) requirements.
Question: If you agree that racism existed prior to "Affirmative Action" what would you have done that would have been Constitutional and better than the AA requirements?
Baby and bath water? Please what you mean by that oblique phrase.
